Our Aircraft
We have selected the American Champion (Bellanca) 7KCAB Citabria as our primary UPRT aircraft. The Citabria features a number of ideal characteristics for Upset Prevent in Recovery and Training.

Often, UPRT schools use more advanced aerobatic aircraft like the well-known Extra 300. Though a joy to fly, Extra 300s are designed for competition aerobatics, and because of this offer overly sensitive stick forces, high roll rates inconsistent with the “average” aircraft most pilots fly and lastly - a symmetrical wing. Symmetrical wings are unique to high performance aerobatic aircraft, and not found on business jets, airliners, normal or utility category general aviation planes; in other words around 98% of the fleet of fixed wing civilian aircraft worldwide.
Our 7KCAB Citabria, originally produced by Bellanca Aircraft and still produced and supported today by American Champion, is equipped with a standard non-symmetrical wing, making its flight and stall characteristics more docile and similar to the US fleet. Its aileron roll forces are augmented slightly by spades, making roll forces gentle, but not overly light. Lastly, our aircraft features a brand new AEIO-320 engine rated at 150 HP, five-point hooker harnesses for both pilots, and a key safety feature, ADS-B In and Out. While Seattle UPRT still emphasizes clearing turns prior to UPRT flight, the added safety feature of ADS-B In and Out provide greater peace of mind, allowing students to practice maneuvers with confidence, knowing the airspace around them is clear.
